Gender affairs
The Division for Gender Affairs plays an active role in gender mainstreaming within regional development in Latin America and the Caribbean. It works in close collaboration with the national machineries for the advancement of women in the region, civil society, the women’s movement, feminist organizations and public policymakers, including national statistics institutes.

XVI Regional Conference on Women in Latin America and the Caribbean
The sixteenth session of the Regional Conference on Women in Latin America and the Caribbean was held at the Centro Cultural Universitario Tlatelolco in Mexico City, from 12 to 15 August 2025, and focused on the political, economic, social, cultural and environmental transformations as a means of advancing the care society and gender equality.

La CEPAL hace un llamado a la acción estatal urgente para avanzar hacia la eliminación de los matrimonios infantiles y la prevención del embarazo en adolescentes
En un seminario web coorganizado entre la Comisión Económica para América Latina y el Caribe (CEPAL) y la Oficina Regional para América Latina y el Caribe del Fondo de Población de las Naciones Unidas (UNFPA), y realizado en el marco de la Campaña ÚNETE, se presentó la nueva publicación sobre avances y desafíos en la eliminación de los matrimonios infantiles y la prevención del embarazo en adolescentes “a 30 años de Beijing y El Cairo”, con foco en la acción estatal, los compromisos regionales y las acciones prioritarias para erradicar estas prácticas nocivas que afectan a niñas y adolescentes en América Latina y el Caribe.
