On May 17, ECLAC conducted the second session of the online seminar series "Towards Sustainable and Inclusive Tariff Regulation in El Salvador," as part of the ROSA project. This session brought together several national counterparts to explore alternatives for calculating service costs to ensure their viability and sustainability.

The online seminars "Towards Sustainable and Inclusive Tariff Regulation in El Salvador" are an integral part of the national technical assistance provided within the framework of the ROSA project. Over four sessions, scheduled for May and June 2024, a detailed analysis of the technical and theoretical aspects of tariff regulation will be conducted, exploring its application in the Salvadoran context.
The second session of the online seminar, led by Ms. Silvia Saravia Matus, Economic Affairs Officer of the Water and Energy Unit of the Natural Resources Division of ECLAC, along with her team of experts, took place on May 17. Representatives from various national counterparts, including the Salvadorean Water Authority (ASA) and the National Administration of Aqueducts and Sewers (ANDA), participated in this session.
The session, titled “Alternatives for Calculating Service Costs,” aimed to provide options for calculating service costs to ensure their viability and sustainability. It began with a review of the cost calculation for services, addressing aspects such as base costs, reference periods, timelines, and information sources. Following this, the session covered the incorporation of service goals and efficiency criteria, concluding with an exploration of the Economic Level of Losses methodology through examples and interactive exercises. The session saw high participation and Exchange of ideas .
