Call for papers - XI REDLAS Conference: "Creative and modern services for trade and sustainable development"

On November 14 and 15, 2022, the XI REDLAS Conference will be held in Lima, in association with KAS, ECLAC, PromPerú and the University of Lima (ULIMA). PromPerú is one of the trade promotion organizations with the longest track record in promoting service exports in the region. In this area, its main annual activity is the Peru Service Summit. This is a pioneering event in Latin America for the promotion of content trade and business solutions for knowledge-based services such as software, fintech, digital animation, video games, design, digital marketing and mining services. The XI REDLAS Conference is part of the Peru Service Summit 2022.

 

The objective of this call for papers is to promote research work that allows generating diagnoses and intervention proposals to promote the development of creative and modern services for trade and sustainable development in LAC. These works will be presented in the XI REDLAS Conference. It is suggested that the work proposals focus on the following topics:

 

i) Export of creative and modern services

a. Cases of success and failure

b. Obstacles to export development

c. Technical and/or regulatory barriers

d. Export support instruments and foreign direct investment

 

ii) Services that add value and competitiveness to exports of goods

a. Services and new techno-productive paradigms (Agtech, Industry 4.0, Fintech, etc.).

b. Specific sectoral experiences of indirect exports of services

c. Incentives to promote the servicification of export sectors

 

iii) Electronic commerce (e-commerce) and other local and exported digital services

a. Case studies and national experiences

b. Regulation around digital commerce

c. Other enabling factors of the ecosystem for digital commerce

d. Gender gaps in digital services

 

iv) The contribution of trade in services to sustainable development

a. Support services for the circular economy and the bioeconomy

b. Services for the sustainability of agriculture, mining and the manufacturing sector

c. Possible contributions of the services to the Paris Agenda

 

The abstracts (maximum 2,000 words) must be sent before September 10, 2022 to redlas@cepal.org. They must clearly indicate the objectives of the work, methodology and main expected results. The Academic Committee will notify the authors of accepted papers before September 17, 2022. The final versions of the papers must be sent before November 4, 2022. The papers can be written in Spanish, English or Portuguese. Its length cannot exceed 12,000 words

 

The organizing institutions will make a monetary contribution to cover most of the lodging and food expenses for one author of each selected work. Travel, local transportation and other expenses must be self-financed.
