ECLAC and MIT Sloan School of Management Organize Seminar on the Future of Energy

The event will be held August 18-19 at the headquarters of the regional United Nations organization in Santiago, Chile.

Authorities in the region, scholars from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), international officials and business leaders will meet on August 18-19 at the seminar The Future of Energy: Latin America’s Path to Sustainability, organized by the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) and the MIT Sloan School of Management.

The event, which will be held at ECLAC’s headquarters in Santiago, Chile, is being carried out in the framework of the UN Secretary-General’s initiative “Sustainable Energy for ALL” (SE4ALL), which aims to ensure universal access to sustainable energy by 2030.

The gathering will be inaugurated by Antonio Prado, ECLAC’s Deputy Executive Secretary, and Vittorio Corbo, member of the MIT Sloan Latin America Advisory Council and former president of Chile’s Central Bank. Chilean Energy Minister Máximo Pacheco is expected to attend along with other prominent figures.

During the event, participants will address topics such as smart energy storage, the future of unconventional energy sources, the political economy of energy, and the economics of climate change, among other issues.
