The 58th Meeting of the Presiding Officers of the Regional Conference on Women was held on January 22 and 23, 2019, in Santiago, Chile.

Description

At their fifty-eighth meeting, the Presiding Officers was make progress with the preparations for the fourteenth session of the Regional Conference on Women in Latin America and the Caribbean.

In addition,  the delegations exchanged views on the country reports on the implementation of the Montevideo Strategy for Implementation of the Regional Gender Agenda within the Sustainable Development Framework by 2030 and its synergy with the review of the implementation of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action (Beijing+25), as well as the annotated index of the position document of the fourteenth session of the Regional Conference on Women in Latin America and the Caribbean, among other matters.

The 58 Meeting was organized by ECLAC, as the Secretariat of the Regional Conference. 

The Regional Conference on Women in Latin America and the Caribbean is a subsidiary body of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) and is the main regional intergovernmental forum on women's rights and gender equality within the United Nations system.
