The fifty-fifth meeting of the Presiding Officers was held at ECLAC headquarters in Santiago from 25 to 26 May 2017.

Description

At their 55 meeting, the Presiding Officers was review the activities carried out to apply the Montevideo Strategy for Implementation of the Regional Gender Agenda within the Sustainable Development Framework by 2030. 

In addition, was receive reports on the participation of the secretariat and of national machineries for the advancement of women in relevant meetings, a panel discussion was held on the link between vocational education and training and young women's participation in the labour force in the region, the Gender Equality Observatory for Latin America and the Caribbean was present a new study on gender equality plans in the region, and a report was presented on the progress made by the working group on the regional fund in support of women's and feminist organizations and movements. 

The 64 Meeting was organized by ECLAC, as the Secretariat of the Regional Conference. 

The Regional Conference on Women in Latin America and the Caribbean is a subsidiary body of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) and is the main regional intergovernmental forum on women's rights and gender equality within the United Nations system.
