Strengthening capacities of ECLAC member states to design universal social protection measures to help overcome the socioeconomic consequences of the pandemic represents a fundamental challenge in the fight against poverty and the promotion of social peace - not only in the context of the recent crisis, but also as a preparation for possible future crises. To this end, raising awareness among country representatives regarding the importance of the various instruments and measures that seek to extend social protection systems towards a universal approach is essential. The goal is, through analysis, the exchange of intra- and interregional experiences and the discussion of recommendations, to stimulate and advance this debate.
