Presenting the commitments of the Regional Water Action Agenda, ECLAC participated in the Regional Forum "Accelerating the change towards SDG 6", organized by the GWP

3 March 2023|Briefing note

During the past week, ECLAC was part of the Regional Forum "Accelerate the change towards SDG 6", an event organized within the framework of the General Assembly of GWP Central America and ahead of the 2023 UN Water Conference.

This year's theme for the celebration of World Water Day is "Accelerate Change", and it has to do with actions that contribute to accelerating the achievement of SDG 6. This, recognizing that to achieve it, collaborative work and alliance is needed, together with the identification of contributions from each sector and from each actor.

the Regional Forum "Accelerate the change towards SDG 6" was held on March 2nd, within the framework of the General Assembly of Members of GWP Central America. Governments, NGOs and academia, among other sectors, participated in the event, with a marked presence of Central American countries. With all of them, a roadmap was planned, aligned with the objectives of the United Nations Water Conference in New York (March 22-24, 2023), calling for the different sectors to get involved.

On this occasion, ECLAC took the opportunity to present the different actions that are being carried out to accelerate compliance with SDG 6. Here, Elisa Blanco, as a consultant of the Natural Resources Division, spoke about the Regional Group of Water Resources Experts, from the different water priorities public consultations carried out in the region, as well as the main results of the Regional Water Action Agenda, which emerged from the Regional Water Dialogues held in February.
