Trinidad y Tobago se convirtió en el duodécimo país de América Latina y el Caribe en adherir a la Declaración sobre la aplicación del principio 10 de la Declaración de Río sobre el Medio Ambiente y el Desarrollo. El anuncio fue realizado durante la Conferencia sobre el Desarrollo Sostenible en América Latina y el Caribe: Seguimiento de la agenda para el desarrollo post 2015 y Río+20, que se llevó a cabo los días 7, 8 y 9 de marzo en la ciudad de Bogotá.
