Brasil joined the Declaration on the implementation of Principle 10 of the Rio Declaration on Environment and Development in Latin America and the Caribbean

Representatives of the countries welcomed Brazil signing onto the Declaration and agreed on a roadmap in order to have a regional instrument on the rights of access to information, participation and environmental justice.

The first meeting of the focal points designated by the governments of the countries that signed the declaration on the application of principle 10 was held at the headquarters of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) in Santiago, November 6-7, 2012. This meeting was to bring together the focal points designated by the signatory governments to advance the implementation of the Declaration, share experiences, regional diagnosis and initiatives and jointly define a roadmap.

At the meeting, representatives of the countries participating welcomed Brazil signing onto the Declaration and agreed on a roadmap in order to have a regional instrument on the rights of access to information, participation and environmental justice, to advance the achievement of a regional instrument on the rights of access to information, participation and environmental justice, which enshrines Principle 10 of the Rio Declaration on Environment and Development in 1992.
