In the interactive dialogue on toxic wastes and safe drinking water and sanitation of the Human Rights Council held in Geneva on 16 and 17 September 2015, the Special Rapporteurs on human rights and hazardous substances and wastes, Mr. Başkut Tuncak (Turkey), and on the human right to safe drinking water and sanitation, Mr. Léo Heller (Brazil), highlighted the importance of the rights of access to information, participation and justice in environmental matters for their respective mandates.

In the Organization and Work Plan adopted at the First Meeting of the Negotiating Committee of the regional agreement held at ECLAC headquarters in Santiago de Chile from 5 to 7 May 2015, the countries reached several agreements in preparation for the Second Meeting of the Committee.

During the first meeting of the negotiating committee of the regional agreement on access to information, public participation and access to justice in environmental matters in Latin America and the Caribbean, held in Santiago, Chile, on 5-7 May 2015, Antigua and Barbuda signed on to the Declaration.

On 18 March, the Ministry of the Environment and Sustainable Development of Colombia organized the "Principle 10 Forum: An intersectoral dialogue" with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. At the event, it presented the developments of the process on the implementation of Principle 10 of the Rio Declaration in Latin America and the Caribbean at the national level to the environmental sector and civil society.

Trinidad and Tobago became the twelfth country in Latin America and the Caribbean to adhere to the Declaration on the application of Principle 10 of the Rio Declaration on Environment and Development. The announcement was made during the Conference on Sustainable Development in Latin America and the Caribbean: follow-up to the United Nations development agenda beyond 2015 and to Rio+20, which took place on March 7-9, 2013 in Bogota, Colombia.
