Guatemala and St. Vincent and the Grenadines accede to the Declaration on the implementation of Principle 10

During the Third Meeting of the Focal Points of the signatory countries of the Declaration, held in Lima, Peru, on October 30- 31, 2013, Guatemala and St. Vincent and the Grenadines joined the Declaration.

The Declaration on the implementation of Principle 10 of the Rio Declaration on Environment and Development in Latin America and the Caribbean was signed at the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development (Rio +20), held in Rio de Janeiro in June 2012. In the Declaration, the signatory countries - Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Guatemala, Honduras, Jamaica, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Dominican Republic, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago, and Uruguay - undertake to develop an action plan until 2014, with the support of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC ) as Technical Secretariat to advance the achievement of a regional instrument on the rights of access to information, participation and environmental justice, areas which enshrines the principle 10 of the Rio Declaration on Environment and Development in 1992.
