ECLAC Library Website improved and updated

25 February 2021|Briefing note

Less text, more relevant visuals, better linking…

In keeping with web usability guidelines, the ECLAC Library has reworked its webpages to include more images, be more informative with less text and to conform with UN accessibility features.

The updated and redesigned website is available in the three languages of ECLAC: English, Spanish and Portuguese, and is being relaunched in direct alignment to the work programme of ECLAC in improving user engagement and offering enhanced visibility of ECLAC’s intellectual output.

The homepage features the Explora search engine which offers users seamless searching of the Digital Repository, the print collections and the electronic resources and databases that are available in the libraries of Santiago, Mexico, Brasilia and Port of Spain, as well as the library collections of the UN Libraries in New York and Geneva. An additional feature of the home page is immediate access to the nota informativas, the library’s popular youtube channel and other social media including twitter and Pinterest. Each page promotes direct access to live chat with a library staff member via the recently launched Libchat feature.

In the works is an update to the ECLAC digital repository platform with the promise of user friendly features that offer greater access to ECLAC's recent work.

Check out the revamped site and let us know what you think!
