The Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) will release next Tuesday, August 13, its Economic Survey of Latin America and the Caribbean, 2024: Low-growth trap, climate change and employment trends, one of the institution’s flagship annual economic reports in which it takes stock of the region’s economies in recent months and updates its growth estimates for each country.
The report will be presented during a hybrid (in-person and virtual) press conference at the organization’s central headquarters in Santiago, Chile.
In this edition corresponding to 2024, the report analyzes the regional economic performance and presents economic growth projections for this year and next year.
In addition to examining the macroeconomic situation, the second part of the Economic Survey 2024 takes a special look at the impact of the low-growth trap in which the region is caught on employment dynamics and labor informality. It also gauges the possible impact of an intensification of climate shocks on job creation.
