Seminar Analyzing Global Trends by 2030 Brings International Experts Together at ECLAC

The event, organized by ILPES with the support of the Korean Government, will be broadcast live via Internet.

Ten experts from the United States, China, the Republic of Korea and Europe will attend the Seminar Latin America and the Caribbean in 2030: World Visions, continental Views, which aims to consolidate a network of professionals and organizations dedicated to studying future global trends and their implications for public policy in the region. The event will take place September 24-25 in Santiago, Chile.

Organized by the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), through its Latin American and Caribbean Institute for Economic and Social Planning (ILPES), the seminar will be inaugurated at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, September 24, by Antonio Prado, ECLAC's Deputy Executive Secretary, and Jorge Máttar, ILPES' Director.

The audience will be composed of planning authorities from throughout the region, including Pabel Muñoz, National Secretary of Planning and Development in Ecuador, and Gabriel Frugoni, Director of Uruguay's Planning and Budget Office.

Among the experts who will present at the plenary sessions are Moonjung Choi, Director General of the Office of Strategic Foresight at Korea Institute of S&T Evaluation and Planning (KISTEP); Barry B. Hughes, Director of the Frederick S. Pardee Center for International Futures at the University of Denver; and Catarina Tully, Director of the School for International Futures, United Kingdom.

During the event, the II Development Planning sessions will take place, unveiling studies on planning and development. The Chilean Council of Planning and Strategy will also be presented to the seminar audience. The meeting enjoys the support of the Republic of Korea's government and will be broadcast live on the Internet.
