Signature and/or ratification ceremony of the Escazú Agreement at the 74th United Nations General Assembly

The Escazú Agreement one of the four environmental treaties highlighted by the United Nations Secretary-General in 2019 in support of the 2030 Agenda on Sustainable Development. In the framework of the general debate of the seventy-fourth session of the General Assembly, a specific space will be devoted for authorities of the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean to sign and/or ratify the Escazú Agreement at the highest level possible at 10 a.m. on 26 September 2019 in the Treaty Event Area (“Kuwaiti boat”) in the General Assembly building.

Practical information

Those delegations wishing to participate in the ceremony shall provide confirmation, through their Permanent Mission to the United Nations, as soon as possible, of the authority that would represent the country for the signature and, where applicable, ratification, to the Treaty Section of the United Nations Office of Legal Affairs copying the Technical Secretariat of the Regional Agreement.
