Early Ratification of the Escazú Agreement: Regional action on Environmental Democracy to fulfill the vision of the 2030 SDG Agenda

Organized by UN ECLAC, the Governments of Costa Rica and Chile and the organizations The Access Initiative, Open Society Foundation, Namati, World Resources Institute, Amnesty International, Civicus and Derecho, Ambiente y Recursos Naturales-DAR. This celebratory event will be held on the occasion of the opening for signature of the Regional Agreement on Access to Information, Public Participation and Justice in Environmental Matters in Latin America and the Caribbean (“Escazu Agreement”). The event will be held at the Open Society Foundation in New York.

The event is a joint effort of UN ECLAC, the Governments of Costa Rica and Chile and the organizations The Access Initiative, Open Society Foundation, Namati, World Resources Institute, Amnesty International, Civicus and Derecho, Ambiente y Recursos Naturales-DAR. Its objective is to promote dialogue and inspire countries to sign, ratify and implement the Escazu Agreement, first environmental treaty of the States of Latin America and the Caribbean.
