30th International Input-Output Association Conference and 12th Edition of the International School of I-O Analysis

1 July 2024|Event

Introduction

We are delighted to announce that ECLAC, along with the International Input-Output Association (IIOA) will be hosting the 30th IIOA Conference at the ECLAC Headquarters in Santiago, Chile, between July 2 and July 5, 2024. This is a remarkable reflection of the close collaboration by the two global organizations in the development and promotion of methods, statistical data, analytical results, and policy application in the field of input-output. This event is supported by Andrés Bello University, the Central Bank of Chile and the Chilean Foreign Ministry. Moreover, in conjunction with the 30th IIOA Conference, the 12th Edition of the International School of I-O Analysis (ISIOA) sessions will also be held at Andrés Bello University on July 1, 2024.

The 2024 IIOA Conference in Santiago will build on the successes of the previous IIOA conferences with the aim to attract a wide range of experienced academics, scientists, researchers, innovators, educators and policy makers from across the world and at all stages of their careers. The main theme of the Conference is: "Rethinking industrial and trade policies in the new global context using Input-Output economics". The global political economy context has provoked a reshuffling in the global value chains aiming for more resilient, reliable, sustainable, secure national, international production patterns and trade relations. This has encouraged countries, both developed and developing, to rethink and reinforce industrial and trade policies. Input-Output analysis is indeed essential in shaping public policy in order to make more efficient use of the resources available both within the economies and from their trade partners. In addition, IO analysis can help us measure the environmental and social impacts of industrial and trade policies.

Aligned with the 30th IIOA Conference, the 12th Edition of the International School of I-O Analysis aims to train younger scholars in the use of standard tools of I-O analysis in a broad sense and encouraging direct communication and/or collaboration between scholars and renowned researchers/lecturers in the field. The ISIOA plays a relevant role in the support of international workshops for groups of scholars and/or researchers coming from areas in the world with a low tradition in I-O related studies and with manifested interest in advancing the field in a broad sense.
