The countries of Latin America and the Caribbean gathered at the first summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) in Santiago, Chile, on January 27-28, 2013 and adopted the Santiago Declaration, which states: "Appreciate initiatives for regional implementation of the 10th Principle of the 1992 Rio Declaration, regarding the rights of access to information, participation and environmental justice, as a significant contribution to the participation of organized community committed to Sustainable Development".
