El diálogo se efectuó en seguimiento al "Taller técnico sobre innovación, desarrollo tecnológico y agregación de valor a la explotación de litio en Argentina, Bolivia (Estado Plurinacional) y Chile”, organizado el 25 de agosto de 2021 por la CEPAL en conjunto con la Embajada de Argentina en Chile. El objetivo de ese Taller fue analizar las posibilidades de intercambio tecnológico, industrialización, innovación y agregación de valor en la cadena del litio para baterías eléctricas.

En el diálogo técnico organizado por la CEPAL, NRGI y la GIZ, los participantes examinaron las experiencias de los países del triángulo del litio (Argentina, Chile y el Estado Plurinacional de Bolivia) sobre el rol del Estado y de los actores privados en la extracción y procesamiento del litio, para aportar elementos a la discusión sobre la reforma constitucional en curso en México.
