ECLAC Will Present Annual Report on Foreign Direct Investment in Latin America and the Caribbean

Next Wednesday, May 27, the organization’s Executive Secretary will present the regional overview and will provide recommendations for countries to take advantage of the potential benefits of these flows.

The Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) will launch its annual report Foreign Direct Investment in Latin America and the Caribbean 2015 next Wednesday, May 27, at the headquarters of this United Nations organization in Santiago, Chile.

ECLAC’s Executive Secretary, Alicia Bárcena, will present the document’s main conclusions during a press conference at 11:00 a.m. local time in Chile. The event will be broadcast live on the Internet via the organization’s website.

The study examines the global and regional evolution of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) flows, which includes an analysis of the pattern of origins and destinations and the situation of Latin American transnational companies, known as “trans-Latins.”

The document also details the amounts received by each country and gives a regional forecast for this year. In addition, the seventeenth edition of this report includes a chapter on FDI in the Caribbean and the impact of these investment flows on the environment.
