ECLAC Will Train Argentine Public Officials in Quantitative Analysis Techniques

In July, the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) will launch a training program in quantitative analysis techniques for officials from Argentina’s public administration.

The program consists of four independent courses of a theoretical-practical nature, 20 hours each, which will be implemented as workshops with emphasis on the application of concepts and techniques presented using software that is suited to each specific one.

The first course will take place on July 26-29 and will be given by Alejandra Silva, of ECLAC’s Latin American and Caribbean Demographic Center (CELADE)-Population Division, who will address the “Use and processing of census data and household surveys for the production of sociodemographic indicators (Redatam).”

After that, Ariel Wirkierman, of the Science Policy Research Unit (SPRU) at the University of Sussex, will offer a training on “Structural analysis of the productive configuration through input-output techniques.” This workshop will be held on August 11, 12, 16 and 17.

“Distribution of income, poverty and the labor market. Quantitative methods of analysis and evaluation of policies” is the theme of the following workshop, which will be taught by Soledad Villafañe, from ECLAC’s Office in Buenos Aires, on October 3, 6, 10, 13, 17 and 20.

The training program will end with a module on “The construction of stock-flow consistent macroeconomic models for evaluating policies,” which will be led by Sebastián Valdecantos, who is also from the Buenos Aires Office, on November 7, 10, 14, 17, 21 and 24.

The courses will be given at ECLAC’s Office in Buenos Aires and the only requirement is that applicants be officials from entities belonging to Argentina’s National Public Administration.
