New Libguide in support of the course on the "transversalization of gender"

7 July 2021|Briefing note

Gender libguide shines a spotlight on sustainable development planning processes and the relevance of the gender perspective in guaranteeing the rights and autonomy of women.

A new libguide has been published by the Hernán Santa Cruz Library of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean, ECLAC. It has been developed in support of the course organized by the Latin American and Caribbean Institute for Economic and Social Planning (ILPES), and the Division of Gender Affairs (DAG) on the mainstreaming of gender in the territory.

The course intends to demonstrate to the target audience the benefit of incorporating a perspective of gender equality into the planning processes, at different territorial scales, with the aim of strengthening the capacities of persons who have these responsibilities in the design and execution of said processes.

As a result, the new guide seeks to complement and reinforce the course content, by curating the output of ECLAC publications and a selection of information in 7 principal areas of analysis:

  • Sexual and gender identity
  • Functional diversity / Disability
  • Age / Life Cycles
  • Ethnic-racial origin
  • Place of birth
  • COVID-19
  • Religion / Belief

The libguide also includes information on Sustainable Development Goal 5 of Agenda 2030, the observatories of ECLAC, the Regional Gender Agenda including the agreements approved during the meetings of the Regional Conference on Women in Latin America and the Caribbean between 1997 and 2020, gender statistics, videos and publications of ECLAC and other UN and international agencies.
