In the framework of the 1st Regional Congress of Legal clinics “from the streets to the courts: the reality of clinical education in Latin America” organized by the Faculty of Law of the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru (PUCP), the first meeting of environmental legal clinics took place on 8 and 10 August 2019 with the participation of Faculties of Law of Universities in Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Chile and Peru.

On the occasion of the XXVI Ibero-American Summit, held in La Antigua (Guatemala) on 15 and 16 November 2018, the Heads of State and Government of Ibero-American countries reaffirmed their commitment with "a prosperous, inclusive and sustainable Ibero-America" and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
