El objetivo de la Conferencia Regional Intergubernamental sobre Envejecimiento y Derechos de las Personas Mayores en América Latina y el Caribe, es implementar y traducir en planes de acción regionales el mandato del Plan de Acción Internacional de Madrid sobre el Envejecimiento y examinar los avances y las brechas en su implementación. Este año se iniciaron las actividades preparatorias en la región en el marco de la cuarta revisión y evaluación quinquenal de la implementación del Plan de Acción Internacional de Madrid, que tendrá lugar a nivel global en el año 2023.

Organized by ECLAC -in its capacity as Technical Secretariat of the Regional Intergovernmental Conference on Ageing and the Rights of the older persons in Latin America and the Caribbean- with the support of UNFPA-LACRO, the regional meeting was held on August 26 to initiate the process for the preparation of country reports on the implementation of the Madrid International Plan of Action on Ageing (MIPAA), within the framework of the fourth review and evaluation of its implementation.
