In his last report to the Human Rights Council, the Special Rapporteur on the issue of human rights obligations relating to the enjoyment of a safe, clean, healthy and sustainable environment, David R. Boyd, focused on the right to breathe clean air. He also described the negative impact of air pollution on the enjoyment of many human rights, in particular the right to life and the right to health, in particular by vulnerable groups.

El cambio climático es uno de los principales desafíos de este siglo debido a la magnitud global de sus causas, consecuencias y por las dificultades que representa implementar el acuerdo climático global, que evite que el aumento de la temperatura supere los 2oC o incluso 1.5oC, y adaptarse a las nuevas condiciones climáticas. En consecuencia, avanzar hacia la implementación del Acuerdo de París requiere, entre otros aspectos, de espacios para el diálogo político, el aprendizaje y la cooperación entre las partes. En este contexto, se estará realizando el Latin America and the Caribbean Climate Week 2018, entre el 20 y el 23 de agosto en Montevideo, Uruguay. Este evento constituye un espacio para discutir y destacar estrategias que permitan acelerar la acción climática global, incluyendo la alineación de los flujos financieros en la región de América Latina y el Caribe con un desarrollo más sostenible, bajo en emisiones de carbono y resiliente a al clima.
