For many years, when a person mentioned the word Twitter, it was in the context of birds. But today, when persons say Twitter they are often referring to a popular short messaging system that allows users to share messages and brief bits of information online to a particular following.

@BibliotecaCepal joined Twitter in October 2011 and today boasts an active following of almost 6000 accounts. Each message from @BibliotecaCEPAL is a carefully crafted post meant to transmit a lot of information in a short space of time.
