In June 2019, the ECLAC Library in Santiago resumed its series of mini workshops, as webinars, on Research Data Management, Open Science and related topics. The first cycle of webinars began in 2016 at the Hernán Santa Cruz Library within the framework of the LEARN Project. The 2019 cycle aims, on the one hand, to promote discussion and deepen understanding on the issues of Research Data Management, Open Science and topics related to the Latin American and the Caribbean region; and on the other hand, offers a permanent platform for colleagues and collaborators from different institutions to share their experiences and best practices on each topic.

The first webinar was held on 11 June 2019 in collaboration with the Technical University Delft of Holland; Dr. Paula Martínez, biotechnologist, shared the experience of institutions in the implementation of strategies and policy development, best practices, instruments and methodologies used, the development of infrastructure and the definition of roles and responsibilities for effective Research Data Management.

On 24 June 2019, Dr. Heather Andrews, Astrophysicist also from TU Delft, provided a brief overview of the RDM at the University; and the role of the Library in researcher support services. The webinar was especially focused on presenting the profile of 'data steward', a person who advises researchers on how to manage data during a research project, at the level of faculty in particular and the university in general.
