ECLAC participates in the celebrations of the International Day for Universal Access to Information in Latin America

In the framework of the celebrations of the first International Day for Universal Access to Information in Latin America, held in Asunción (Paraguay) on 28 September 2016 under the motto "Access to public information: More citizenship, more democracy, more development", ECLAC took part in the Panel "The right to information in the 21st century. Developments in public policies on access to information in Latin America and the world".

In the framework of the celebrations of the first International Day for Universal Access to Information in Latin America, held in Asunción (Paraguay) on 28 September 2016 under the motto "Access to public information: More citizenship, more democracy, more development", ECLAC took part in the Panel "The right to information in the 21st century. Developments in public policies on access to information in Latin America and the world". 

In its intervention, ECLAC presented the regional process for the adoption of a regional agreement on access to information, public participation and access to justice in environmental matters and made an overview of the current situation and main regional developments on access to public environmental information.

Such event was organized by the UNESCO Regional Office for Sciences in Latin America and the Caribbean, the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights' Special Rapporteur on Freedom of Expression, the Supreme Court of Justice of Paraguay, the Public Prosecutor's Office of Paraguay, the Ministry of Justice of Paraguay, USAID, the Center for Environmental and Social Studies (CEAMSO) and the Inter-American Institute of Human Rights.
