Redatam workshop on Database creation and development of Redatam web applications for data processing and dissemination

The objective of the workshop is to train participants in the creation of Redatam databases and the development of data dissemination Redatam web applications so that they can later incorporate what is learned in their respective countries and offices.

The Latinamerican Demographic Centre (CELADE)-Population Division of ECLAC, will carry on, the 2017 Redatam workshop on Database creation and development of Redatam web applications for data processing and dissemination, to be held in Santiago, Chile from August 21st through 31st.

This is an intensive hands-on training and will be conducted in Spanish. The course will have duration of 72 hours during nine days. It is aimed at professionals, technicians and users in general with experience and knowledge in data management and processing and ideally with some knowledge of Redatam. This workshop is part of the technical advisory activities that CELADE-Population Division continuously provides to national institutions related to the use and dissemination of sociodemographic and sectoral information, especially population census and surveys.

During the workshop the process of sociodemographic databases (censuses and surveys) migration from external sources such as DBF, CSPro, SPSS, ASCII to Redatam will be taught. In addition, the students will develop a Redatam web based application that allows online processing of Redatam databases with the purpose of globally dissemination of the information through the Internet.

At the end of the workshop the participants would have learned to create Redatam databases with the Redatam7 Create module, would have learned to tabulate different variables with Reddatam7 Process module and would have learned to develop their own web applications using the IIS local server and Redatam Webserver.

Place: The course will take place at ECLAC headquarters, in Santiago, Chile.

Costs:  The fee of the workshop is US$ 450 for each participant.

Note:  The fee does not include other costs such as transportation, lodging, food, etc. These costs are responsibility of each participant or of the funding institution.
