Traffic Assessment in Trinidad and Tobago
The infographic on "Trinidad's Traffic Study" outlines key challenges and recommendations for addressing traffic congestion in Trinidad. It offers several short- to medium-term solutions aimed at enhancing public transportation, such as making it more attractive and reliable, improving paratransit services for "first and last mile" transportation, and bolstering public safety for both commuters and service providers. Telecommuting is also suggested as a way to reduce the need for physical commuting. For a long-term solution, the study emphasizes the importance of establishing an efficient, multi-modal transportation system, improving school bus services, and decentralizing public services. Where are we now: Science, Technology, Innovation and the Caribbean
This infographic from Study 110 explores the role of Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI) in driving sustainable development in the Caribbean. While STI is recognized as crucial for progress, the study finds that many Caribbean nations have yet to prioritize it, and existing policies remain underdeveloped. The current driver of change in the region is renewable energy, influenced by factors such as reliance on expensive imported fossil fuels, falling costs of renewable energy technologies, and international commitments to reducing greenhouse gas emissions. To foster STI advancement, the study recommends promoting an STI culture, enhancing institutional support, increasing funding, integrating STI into education, and encouraging collaboration between governments, private sectors, and research institutions.

The meeting, organized by the Ministry of Education of Chile (MINEDUC) and UNESCO, with the support of ECLAC, CAF, UNICEF and the World Bank, addresses the challenge of educational reactivation, the transformation of teaching, and financing. Trinidad and Tobago Commuters Spend One Month of Life in Traffic Every Year… Direct Economic Cost of Traffic in T&T - $2.26B

The direct economic cost of traffic in Trinidad and Tobago is an estimated TT$2.26 billion per year or 1.37 per cent of GDP; with the average commuter spending an average 793 hours, cumulatively 33 days – one month of the year in traffic delays. These are two of the main findings of the study Assessment of the economic costs of vehicle traffic congestion in the Caribbean – A case study of Trinidad and Tobago, produced by ECLAC Caribbean.
