Para alcanzar las metas de acceso universal a la prevención, el tratamiento, la atención y el apoyo relacionados con el VIH, ONUSIDA estima que se necesita una inversión mínima de 22 000 millones de dólares hasta el 2015. Aumentar ese nivel de financiación podría evitar más de doce millones de nuevas infecciones por el VIH y más de siete millones de muertes, según ONUSIDA.
