Germany and ECLAC Reaffirm Strategic Cooperation Ties with a View to Sustainable Development in Latin America and the Caribbean
In the framework of an official visit to Berlin, the regional organization’s Executive Secretary, Alicia Bárcena, met with Norbert Barthle, Parliamentary State Secretary of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany. Later in the day, she signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Christiane Bögemann-Hagedorn, the BMZ’s Deputy Director General for Latin America.

From 1995 to 2015, the residential sector reduced its energy consumption by 45.9%, according to the National Report on Monitoring Energy Efficiency 2018, recently published by the organization’s Subregional Headquarters in that country.

Ports Ranking. The Top 20 in Latin America and the Caribbean in 2017
ECLAC updates every year its ranking of container port throughput, which shows the cargo volume in containers in 120 ports of the region, based on data obtained directly from port authorities and terminal operators. In 2017 this activity rose 6.1%, with a total volume of approximately 50.6 million TEU. This infographic displays the first 20 ports of the ranking.
