The third meeting of the gathering was inaugurated today at ECLAC’s headquarters in Santiago, Chile, with the presence of representatives from all the region’s countries.
The demands of girls, boys, adolescents and youth, aging, sexual and reproductive health, and the persistence of gender gaps were among the issues addressed during the second day of the Regional Conference on Population and Development.
"On this World Population Day, I urge all Governments, businesses and civil society to support and invest in teenage girls", United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon says in his message.
"I welcome the focus of this year's World Population Day on adolescent pregnancy. This sensitive topic demands global attention", says the UN Secretary-General, Ban Ki-moon.
