ECLAC’s Executive Secretary, Alicia Bárcena, was one of the main speakers at the High-level Meeting on Middle-Income Countries, convened by the President of the United Nations General Assembly.
In its Preliminary Overview of the Economies of the region, ECLAC forecasts an average contraction of -7.7% for 2020 – the largest in 120 years – and a rebound of 3.7% in 2021.
Seminar held at the UN regional organization’s headquarters in Santiago, Chile, with special participation by the host country’s Central Bank Governor, Mario Marcel.
