Government authorities and international officials participated in the Fourth Meeting of the Presiding Officers of ECLAC’s Regional Conference on Social Development in Latin America and the Caribbean, in the framework of the XII Ministerial Forum for Development in Latin America and the Caribbean, organized jointly with UNDP.
That is the primary outcome of the Third Meeting of the Regional Conference on Social Development in Latin America and the Caribbean, a gathering convened by ECLAC, the government of Mexico and the UNDP, which concluded this Thursday in the Mexican capital.
In the last decades, poverty in the region declined slowly but steadily, a trend that persisted even during the global crisis of 2008-2009. But from 2011 the pace that had been folding down this scourge has slowed.
