Twenty-sixth session of the Committee of the Whole

The twenty-sixth session of the Committee of the Whole of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) taked place at United Nation’s headquarters in New York from 28 to 29 March 2012. The Committee of the Whole is an ECLAC body that allowed governments of member countries to meet between formal sessions of the Commission.

This time ECLAC member countries examined the following issues, among others:

Economic and social overview of Latin America and the Caribbean and outlook for 2012.
Report on the activities of the subsidiary bodies of ECLAC, 2010-2012.
Activities conducted by ECLAC in support of intergovernmental agencies and organizations concerned with integration in the region.
Thirty-fourth session of the Commission (San Salvador, 27-31 August 2012).
Proposed strategic framework for the period 2014-2015.

Presiding over the Committee of the Whole was the Officers elected at the thirty-third session of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), held in Brasilia from 30 May to 1 June 2010. The Presiding Officers elected on that occasion were Brazil, as Chair, Cuba and Grenada, as Vice-Chairs, and Mexico, as Rapporteur.
