La medición periódica del uso del tiempo es crucial para reconocer y analizar las desigualdades de género y obtener información relevante para superar la división sexual del trabajo, implementar políticas públicas y transitar hacia la sociedad del cuidado. Permite contabilizar el trabajo no remunerado que realizan desproporcionadamente las mujeres, valorar el cuidado como una necesidad, un trabajo y un derecho y estimar los efectos multiplicadores de impulsar la economía del cuidado en el bienestar de la sociedad.

21st International Experts Meeting on Time Use and Unpaid Work
The twenty-first International Meeting of Information Specialists on Time Use and Unpaid Work will be held in Santiago, on September 25, 2023. Discussions will focus on the importance of time use measurements for the formulation and monitoring of policies to move towards the Care Society.
Seminar on “Economic Demographics and Population Ageing in Brazil: Challenges and perspectives for public policies”
The seminar is organized within the framework of the UN Development Account (10th Tranche) project on "Demographic transition: opportunities and challenges to achieve the SDGs in Latin America and the Caribbean", coordinated by CELADE-Population Division of ECLAC with the aim of enhancing capacities of the selected states to integrate population dynamics into their planning policies.

UN Women and ECLAC promote the development of Comprehensive Care Systems in Latin America and the Caribbean
UN Women's Regional Director, María Noel Vaeza and ECLAC Executive Secretary, Alicia Bárcena, and the Director of the Division of Gender Affairs, Ana Güezmes, presented the joint document titled Towards the construction of comprehensive care systems in Latin America and the Caribbean.
